The protected health information of the patients may have been revealed after a workstation was infected with a malware program. The information includes Social Security numbers, addresses, names, dates of birth, health insurance company names or names of other payee, insurance numbers and diagnoses and procedure codes.
The university does not believe the information has been misused or stolen. It has taken steps to improve the security of workstations, including providing additional training to its staff, according to the release.
