WellPoint Acquires Medicare Advantage Plan Provider

Health insurer WellPoint, the country’s largest health insurer based on membership, acquired CareMore Health Group, a Medicare Advantage plan provider, according to a Bloomberg Businessweek report.

CareMore provides health coverage and coordinated care for roughly 54,000 people in California, Arizona and Nevada, and most of its customers have several chronic conditions. WellPoint already has 1.3 million Medicare Advantage and Medicare supplement customers.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
