Watertown, N.Y.-based Samaritan Medical Center has selected Kopp Billing Agency to manage its patient billing services, effective May 1.
The transition to the Syracuse, N.Y.-based company comes after the 290-bed hospital worked with its former vendor since 2012, according to an April 28 Samaritan Medical Center news release.
During the transition, there will be a five-month period during which both Kopp and the former billing partner will work with patients as they continue to receive bills from two different partners. The overlap “ensures that patients have adequate time to manage their bills and that the transition is as seamless as possible for all,” Samaritan said.
“We are confident this change will result in better service, enhanced communication and a smoother billing process for both our patients and staff,” CFO Maxine Briggs said. “Medical billing is extremely complex and individualized, and we look forward to having Kopp as a new partner.”
