Brewer, Maine-based Northern Light Health has shared plans to close its Waterville (Maine) walk-in clinic by the end of 2025, according to a Sept. 30 news release shared with Becker’s.
The closure will affect around 30 full- and part-time employees, and Northern Light is working with them to determine next steps. The clinic is managed by Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, a spokesperson for the health system confirmed with Becker’s.
After Waterville-based Northern Light Inland Hospital closed in late May, the Waterville walk-in clinic remained open to ensure care access. Since then, patient volumes have declined as residents transition to other providers.
“A Northern Light care team will be available to assist area patients with medication management, primary care connections, and other follow-up needs as the clinic winds down operations,” the release said. “Northern Light Health is committed to supporting its employees affected by this transition, offering severance packages, career guidance and opportunities to continue working within the Northern Light system.”
