Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center and Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center announced last week they terminated contracts with Aetna and UnitedHealthcare. The county’s only other hospital, Meadowlands Hospital Medical Center in Secaucus, currently does not accept Aetna, as well.
Hospitals have argued that Aetna’s reimbursement rates have been lower compared with other health insurers, but JCMC does not expect to remain out-of-network for Aetna patients as it continues to negotiate in “good faith” for a new contract, according to the report.
