The state’s largest health insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, previously argued they should be able to modify their policies with hospitals and other providers in order to prevent providers from double billing for certain services. The North Carolina Department of Insurance ruled in November in favor of the insurer.
Incensed hospital groups argued the policy will affect their reimbursement rates and requested courts review the finding.
