According to documents NewYork-Presbyterian submitted to the city’s zoning application portal Feb. 8, the proposed building would consolidate cancer care facilities that are currently spread across different facilities on the medical campus. It would include space for diagnostic services, treatment and ambulatory surgery. It would also enable the medical center to expand cancer research and clinical trials. The plannng documents did not include cost estimates.

“The proposed center will be a new hub for innovative outpatient cancer care and other clinical services, as well as dynamic research, all designed to address the clinical needs of the communities we serve in Northern Manhattan and beyond,” NewYork-Presbyterian said in a statement to Becker’s. “We are working with the community, elected officials and the Department of Health as the planning process continues. We look forward to sharing additional details about this important project over the coming months.”

NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center includes the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.
