The overpayments started in Sept. 2010 and are on track to build up to $119 million in undue overpayments by the end of June. However, the department is taking corrective measures by adjusting hospital payments beginning March 19 to make up for the overpayments, according to the news report.
In addition to the hospital overpayments, the department is addressing a sudden increase in payments to service providers, which rose $10 million a week for the previous six weeks, according to the news report.
