Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Medicaid Redesign Team made 78 recommendations in cost-saving initiatives, and they were enacted in the state budget in April, according to the release. The initiatives include capping Medicaid spending growth and beginning a three-year phase-in to managed care for all Medicaid recipients.
Although spending remains below target for its current fiscal year, the state said the increased enrollment in Medicaid due to the weak economy could impact savings for the rest of the year.
