The funds are being allocated through the Office of Justice Program’s Office for Victims of Crime and will go toward bolstering a partnership project between the BRAVE program and the state’s community based violence program, SNUG, according to an Oct. 13 news release from the medical center.
The project will create a liaison between the two programs, train medical staff in best practices when approaching care for victims of violence and improve documentation. It also will include a collaboration between Erie County Medical Center and Oishei Children’s Hospital, also in Buffalo, with support from the University of Buffalo School of Social Work.
