Rush Health, Aetna End Reimbursement Feud

Ending a yearlong feud over reimbursement cuts, Chicago-based Rush System for Health, parent of Rush University Medical Center, and health insurer Aetna signed a three-year deal that would keep the system in Aetna’s coverage network, according to a Crain’s Chicago Business report.

The falling out between to the two began in late 2011, according to the report, when Rush executives balked at a 30 percent cut in reimbursement rates Aetna planned to make to the system. Aetna announced they’d drop the system’s contract the following year, and Rush retaliated by moving its employee health plan from Aetna to Cigna.
