3 New Jersey hospitals mistakenly charged 200 patients for COVID-19 vaccinations

Three hospitals operated by Bayonne, N.J.-based CarePoint Health erroneously billed more than 200 patients for their COVID-19 vaccinations, NJ.com reported April 28.

The three hospitals were Bayonne Medical Center, Hoboken University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City.

A CarePoint spokesperson said the bills were sent out due to a systems error.

"The third-party vendor mistakenly sent out invoices to a little more than 200 patients, which is about 1 percent of the 22,000 that the CarePoint Health system vaccinated," the spokesperson said.

Patients who were mistakenly billed will receive notices telling them to disregard the charge, and anyone who paid the bill will be reimbursed, according to the spokesperson.
