The planned 86,600-square-foot facility, Colorado General Hospital, is likely to have three floors and 52 beds.

The company planning to build the hospital is Lewisville, Texas-based First Choice Emergency Room, which specializes in free-standing emergency departments. First Choice already operates three free-standing emergency departments in Colorado Springs and recently opened another location in Fountain, Colo.

First Choice Emergency Room may operate numerous free-standing emergency departments across the country, but this development marks the company’s first foray into operating hospitals.
