The million dollar gift will expand access to care for cancer and pediatric patients. The gift will establish the Novant Health Martin Trulex Jr. Foundation Children’s Emergency Department in Huntersville, N.C., and the SherryStrong Integrative Medicine Oncology Clinic in Charlotte.

“This remarkably generous gift from the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation will help Novant Health strengthen our community by ensuring cancer patients achieve optimal health and healing and children have access to life-saving emergency services,” said Andrew Mueller, MD, senior vice president of Novant Health and president of the greater Charlotte market.

The children’s ED is slated to open in 2019 and is devoted exclusively to caring for children and teens. The oncology clinic will be housed in Novant’s cancer institute that is currently under construction in Charlotte.
