MUSC Children's Hospital receives $5M donation toward $385M hospital project

Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital received a $5 million donation from the Zucker family, which will be used toward the facility's $385 million project, according to The Post and Courier.

The $5 million gift will fund an indoor play area for children, which will be named the Jerry and Anita Zucker Family Atrium in honor of the donors.

So far the children's hospital has raised $116 million to fund the new facility.

"The entire project has been a community effort… and continues to be," said MUSC President David Cole, MD.

The new facility is expected to be complete in 2019.
