Moody's downgrades Ingalls Health System to 'Baa2'

Moody's Investors Service downgraded Harvey, Ill.-based Ingalls Health System to "Baa2" from "Baa1," affecting $61.5 million of debt.

The downgrade is a result of several factors, including the health system's competitive service area, high dependence on government reimbursements, modest margins and an upcoming period of high capital spending. Moody's also acknowledged the health system's affiliation with University of Chicago Medical Center, manageable debt burden and strong liquidity.

The outlook was revised to stable from negative, reflecting the health system's manageable debt burden and close affiliation with UCMC, which provides the health system stability.
