Moody’s downgrades Charleston Area Medical Center’s rating to ‘Baa1’

Moody’s Investors Service downgraded Charleston (W.Va.) Area Medical Center’s rating to “Baa1” from “A3,” affecting $278 million of rated debt.

The downgrade reflects CAMC’s recent weaker operating performance, slowed revenue growth and significant reliance on state supplemental funding to support its operations.

The negative outlook is based on Moody’s Investors Service’s expectation that CAMC’s operations and liquidity will remain pressured.
