Moody’s assigns ‘Aa1’ rating to Harris County Hospital District

Moody’s Investors Service has assigned an “Aa1” rating to Houston-based Harris County Hospital District’s $70 million of series 2016 combination tax and revenue certificates of obligation.

The rating assignment is based on a number of factors, including HCHD’s position as a safety net service provider for HarrisCounty, as well as its role as a trauma center and major teaching hospital in the larger Houston area.

Outlooks aren’t assigned to government organizations with this amount of outstanding debt.
