The hospital’s rating reflects its reputation as a premier pediatric academic medical center and teaching hospital for Harvard Medical School. The hospital had nearly $248 million of combined research grants and contracts and indirect cost recovery in 2013.

The hospital also has a strong balance sheet, positive margins and a very strong market share in the Boston area.

The hospital’s stable outlook was based on the expectation that the hospital will maintain its reputation for pediatric clinical care and research activity.
