Moody’s Investors Service affirmed its “A2” rating on Ames, Iowa-based Mary Greeley Medical Center, affecting $65 million of outstanding debt.

The affirmation is a result of several factors including the health system’s dominant market position, strong operating performance, favorable liquidity metrics and solid leverage. Moody’s also acknowledged the medical center’s smaller size, unfavorable revenue growth in comparison to its peers and increased debt burden due to its participation in the Iowa Public Employee Retirement System.

The outlook is stable, reflecting Moody’s expectation that MGMC will maintain its operating margin and market share to offset the system’s exposure to the Iowa Public Employee Retirement System.
