State legislation passed last year shrank Medicaid funding and will result in the loss of millions in federal money.
To offset that, the governor said he hopes to outsource the public hospitals in LSU’s system, though details have not yet been released as to how much that would save the state. The governor noted the move would cut 10,000 LSU workers from its employment rolls but anticipated 90 percent of them would be hired by the private operators.
