Mississippi Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney, a Republican who supported a state-run exchange over the federally-run version most GOP governors have opted for by default, said he felt “betrayed” by the decision. His office spent $4.5 million in federal grant money and months drafting plans for the exchange.
HHS has not yet released details of the decision.
Gov. Phil Bryant, also a Republican, has been vocally opposed to taking any part in his state’s design or operation of the exchanges.
