Miami-Dade Hospital Executives Agree to Voluntary Pay Cuts

The top 20 executives of the Jackson Health System, which operates hospitals in Miami-Dade County, Fla., volunteered to take a 4-5 percent pay cut, forgo car and executive allowances and consider giving up five days without pay, according to a report in The Miami Herald.

The announcement regarding the executive pay cuts came a day before county and hospital officials were set to start discussing the budget for fiscal year 2010, according to the report. The current executive pay cuts will result in around $1 million savings for the health system.

As of Aug. 31, Jackson Health projected a $133 million loss for 2010 unless cost-cutting measures are made, which is below the former projection of $168.4 million. The health system is projecting a loss of $61.5 million for this year.
