MetroHealth to begin construction on new emergency room and outpatient complex

Cleveland-based MetroHealth System will start construction this month on a new emergency room and outpatient complex in Brecksville, Ohio, according to a report from Northeastern Ohio Media Group.

In addition to a freestanding emergency room, the Brecksville Health Center will include a surgery center and offer diagnostic services.

MetroHealth purchased the property for $3.5 million, and the city of Brecksville agreed to give the health system $2.25 million as an incentive to do construction, according to the report.

Preliminary site plans were approved last month, and groundbreaking is slated to take place April 28. The facility is expected to open in summer 2016.

Cleveland-based University Hospitals has competing plans in Broadview Heights, Ohio for a $28 million outpatient health center and emergency room, also slated to open in summer 2016.
