Mercy Health opening $200M hospital

Cincinnati-based Mercy Health has unveiled its new $200 million Mason, Ohio-based Mercy Health-Kings Mills Hospital.

The 175,000-square-foot facility is expected to open to the public Jan. 21.

It features a two-story medical office building, 60 acute care beds, a 24/7 emergency department with 16 treatment spaces, an intensive care unit, four operating rooms, three procedure suites, and a level 1 catheterization lab, according to a Jan. 10 Mercy Health press release shared with Becker's

General and orthopedic surgery will also be provided at the hospital, along with a helipad for transfer of serious trauma cases.

"The opening of this facility addresses the need for an acute care hospital in Mason and neighboring communities," Jason Asic, president of Mercy Health-Kings Mills, said in the release. "Closer proximity means shorter ambulance rides, faster medical interventions, and better outcomes for area patients."

The hospital has already hired over 200 employees with expansion plans in place if needed.
