Blue Cross Blue Shield, Essentia Health Sign Cost Control Agreement

Fargo, N.D.-based Essentia Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota have signed an agreement that bases some payments on quality of care, according to a report by Inforum.

The change to pay-for-performance compensation follows the national trend away from the fee-for-service model. The goal of the agreement is to improve quality and reduce the cost of healthcare.
