The contribution will go toward a new 23-story outpatient facility, The David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care, which is scheduled to open in 2019. MSK has forecasted a 60 percent increase to the number of patients who receive outpatient cancer care. Today, an average of 4,700 patients do so at one of the center’s outpatient locations, including seven suburban facilities.
Mr. Koch, executive vice president of Wichita, Kan.-based Koch Industries, has served on MSK’s Board of Overseers and Managers since 1990. He has contributed $225 million in gifts and pledges to the center.
Craig Thompson, president and CEO of MSK, said the new facility “will be a real game changer” thanks to Mr. Koch’s “landmark commitment.”
Mr. Koch is also on the board of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He pledged $100 million to the hospital in 2013.
