MedStar Health awarded $2M to expand research

Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health received about $2 million from the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, according to a Sept. 27 news release.

The grant will allow MedStar Health to expand its collaboration with Stanford Medicine and Intermountain Healthcare in the areas of telehealth access, safety and equity.

Vice president of scientific affairs for the MedStar Health Research Institute and director of the MedStar Health National Center for Human Factors in Healthcare, Raj Ratwani, PhD, said initial research demonstrates telehealth is making care more accessible and effective.

"Thanks to the continued support of AHRQ, we will advance patient safety nationally by studying and scaling telehealth as a proactive safety tool while also enhancing its safe use within the diverse communities served by connected care," Dr. Ratwani said.
