In March, MedPac recommended cutting payment for 10 evaluation and management services and is now considering extending that to 71 additional services. The AHA argues the impact of these cuts has not yet been fully studied and could amount to $1 billion per year. The AHA is urging MedPac to refrain from recommending further cuts until “public analysis and debate of the proposal’s impact on hospitals has occurred.”
