Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Health System’s Lovelace Medical Group has closed its urgent care location in Taos, N.M.
The closure comes one year after Brentwood, Tenn.-based Ardent Health acquired the clinic and 17 other urgent care locations from Tempe, Ariz.-based NextCare Urgent Care in New Mexico and Oklahoma. Lovelace is a subsidiary of Ardent Health.
The transaction included six urgent care clinics in New Mexico and 12 in Oklahoma; the New Mexico locations joined Lovelace while the Oklahoma clinics fell under Hillcrest HealthCare System, a Tulsa, Okla.-based Ardent subsidiary.
The closure was related to multiple factors, including low utilization, staffing challenges and its distance from core services.
“While we explored options to maintain operations locally, these factors made it difficult to sustain the clinic long‑term,” a spokesperson for Lovelace Health System said in a statement shared with Becker’s. “All other LMG Urgent Care locations remain open.”
