Last year, the Office of Medicare Hearings and Appeals announced appeals from individual beneficiaries would be prioritized, while appeals from hospitals and physicians would be put on hold for at least a couple years, according to the report.
Beneficiaries have waited 113 days on average for a hearing ever since, according to a recent Kaiser Family Foundation article. In 2013, the wait time was 235 days.
The MarketWatch report notes that although the wait times for beneficiaries have dropped by more than half, wait times for health providers’ cases have doubled since 2014.
