Kaiser Permanente is laying off 147 employees across several cities in California, the Oakland-based health system said in regulatory documents filed Sept. 21.
The cuts span 16 locations in Alameda, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, Sacramento and San Diego counties, effective Nov. 20. A spokesperson for Kaiser told Becker’s the positions being eliminated involve business and administrative responsibilities, not direct patient care.
“We are supporting affected employees as they explore other opportunities within Kaiser Permanente and, where appropriate, providing severance, career support, and outplacement services. These changes will not affect the quality of care or service we provide to our members and patients,” the spokesperson said.
The largest single-site reduction is 72 positions at regional administrative offices in San Diego. Another 22 positions will be eliminated at Kaiser’s information technology campus in Pleasanton, and 20 at administrative offices in Pasadena.
In October, Kaiser disclosed 216 layoffs across California, primarily in IT and food services. The system employs approximately 180,000 people across the state.
