The IHA said the Medicaid expansion is “good for the state” as well as for community hospitals in several ways: It would continue coverage for those under IowaCare, a Medicaid waiver program that insures 60,000 people, and expanded Medicaid payments would help offset the more than $2.3 billion in Medicare reductions Iowa hospitals face over the next 10 years.
Last week, the Ohio Hospital Association released a statement urging the state to opt into the Medicaid expansion.
