Intermountain to close Colorado birth center

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Health has shared plans to close its Bloomin’ Babies Birth Center in Grand Junction, Colo., effective March 28.

The closure comes amid a declining birth rate and an unsustainable decrease in new patients at the freestanding birth center, according to a Feb. 17 news release.

Existing patients will be able to transition to receive care from their existing Intermountain care team or a new team at three of the system’s other OB-GYN-based clinics.

Additionally, Grand Junction-based St. Mary’s Regional Hospital offers similar labor and delivery options to Bloomin’ Babies.

Intermountain care navigators will work individually with each patient to ensure successful care transition, the release said.
