Indiana Hospital Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Washington County Memorial Hospital in Salem, Ind., has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy while the hospital tries to reorganize its finances and considers making an operating agreement with an outside company, according to a report in Business First of Louisville.

Critical Access Health Services Corp., the company that currently operates Washington County Memorial, has signed an agreement with Indianapolis-based St. Vincent Health to provide management services during the reorganization, according to the report.

Washington County Memorial also said that it was interested in examining a long-term management deal with St. Vincent or another company. St. Vincent and Washington County Memorial had previously been in talks regarding the hospital becoming an affiliate of the health system, according to the report.
