The total is slightly higher than President Obama’s debt reduction plan from this past September, which called for $320 billion in healthcare savings.
Most of the savings would come from provider cuts and changes to drug reimbursements. The budget also would keep funding for biomedical research at the National Institutes of Health level at $31 billion.
