Idaho hospital offers 'Black Friday' deals on outpatient services

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Gooding, Idaho-based North Canyon Medical Center will offer Black-Friday-style deals on some outpatient services, according to a KTVB news report.

The hospital will be a century old Nov. 16. On that day, patients will pay $19.18 for X-ray, lab and family medicine services. The discounts for those outpatient services will be available from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The price was chosen because the hospital was founded in 1918.

The rollback price is a steal, because depending on the service and a patient's insurance, X-rays and other medical tests at hospitals often range from hundreds to thousands of dollars.

"We wanted to find a way to commemorate our 100-year anniversary and give back to the patients who have supported us for all these years and have fun with it as well. It is quite an extraordinary story of 100 years of continuous hospital-based medical care in Gooding," said Tim Powers, CEO of North Canyon Medical Center.

To get the discounted price, a patient will need to have a physician's order for the service and will have to pay at the time of service. The reduced prices apply to each department, so a patient would only pay $19.18 total for a visit to the lab even if separate departments order labs. The same payment structure applies to X-rays and the family medicine department.
