“Over the past few years, we have seen a decline in the number of births at our hospital and challenges in securing consistent coverage,” a spokesperson for West Valley Medical Center said in a Feb. 23 statement shared with Becker’s. “We have communicated this change to our colleagues and providers, who have delivered excellent care to mothers and babies over the years.”
Patients will be given news of the closure from their specific provider.
As the hospital plans to continue expanding and enhancing its other services, their goal is to retain as many colleagues as possible by offering them new career opportunities in other areas of care, the spokesperson said.
West Valley Medical Center has more than 800 employees and volunteers, including 200 physicians, according to its website.
