Humana’s Net Income Up 13% for 3Q

In the third quarter of fiscal year 2011, health insurer Humana reported net income of $444.8 million, up 13 percent from the same period in 2010, according to a Humana news release.

Humana’s third quarter total revenue also hit $9.3 billion, up 11.4 percent from the third quarter of 2010.

For the nine months ended Sept. 30, 2011, Humana recorded total revenue of $27.8 billion, up 9.7 percent from the same nine-month period a year ago. Humana’s nine-month net income was $1.22 billion, up 23 percent from 2010.
