Humana’s income up 67% in Q4

Louisville, Ky.-based health insurer Humana’s consolidated revenues increased in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014.

The health insurer’s pretax income was up 67 percent in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2014, increasing to $324 million.

Humana’s adjusted pretax income of$2.21 billion for the full FY 2014 was a 2 percent increase over its pretax income for FY 2013.

For the fourth quarter of FY 2014, Humana posted diluted earnings per common share of 94 cents, compared to a loss of 19 cents per share for the fourth quarter of 2013.

The company projects earnings per share for the year ending Dec. 31, 2015 will be in the range of $8.50 to $9, saying it anticipates strong growth and operating efficiencies in its Medicare offerings and year-over-year improvement in the healthcare services business, among other things.
