Hospital Participation in AHA’s RACTrac Initiative Increasing

The American Hospital Association has found constant increases in hospital participation in its RACTrac initiative, according to AHA RACTrac reports.

RACTrac is a survey of hospitals’ experiences with the recovery audit contractor program. AHA collects the data and analyzes the RAC program’s impact on hospitals across the country.

Data for 2010 show a constant increase in hospital participation in the survey. In the first quarter, 653 hospitals participated. That number rose to 1,389 in the second quarter, 1,667 in the third quarter and 1,852 in the fourth quarter.

Increasing hospital participation in the survey may reflect a growing desire for data on RACs, greater awareness of the survey or more visibility of the RAC program, among other explanations.
