Friends of Strong, the hospital’s volunteer and fundraising organization, holds the gala wine tasting event annually to fund much-needed equipment and care programs for the hospital, including a patient resource library, wheelchairs and safe-sleep infant swaddles.

As hospitals and health systems across the nation consider new avenues of revenue to mitigate lower reimbursement rates, community fundraising initiatives have become an even more important means for hospital financing.

Last years gala event helped raise more than $15,000 toward giving a total of nearly $975,000 to Strong Hospital’s patient care initiatives.

“Financing these care-enhancing resources and programs wouldn’t be possible without the community’s continued support,” said Friends of Strong director Sandy Arbasak.

This year’s gala event will take place Feb. 12.
