The award is given to “exemplary, results-oriented programs or projects that demonstrate cost-effective, significant and relevant impact on the populations served,” the network said in a news release.

HomeTown Health’s program, supported by the Small Hospital Improvement Program Grant, ran from last fall through spring of this year. According to the release the program’s aim was “to build a group of hospitals and other stakeholders that work together to strengthen the rural health infrastructure and increase access for small or rural Iowa hospitals.” Training took place in the areas of quality improvement, revenue cycle management and telemedicine.

The award is slated to be presented to HomeTown Health in October.
