HHC Group rolls out new pricing service to help patients shop care

HHC Group has rolled out a new component to its Medicare-based pricing service to reduce the chance of its policy holders receiving unanticipated medical bills.

Using its new precertification option, HHC contacts hospitals when its policy holders require certain treatments or procedures to negotiate an agreed-upon service price, typically using benchmark rates set by CMS as a reference point. The company aims to increase pricing transparency between hospitals and payers for out-of-network services through arbitration before the services take place.

HHC hopes its  new service will encourage patients to shop for services from a wider range of hospitals and providers without the limitations imposed by narrow payer networks.

HHC is a cost-containment company that works on behalf of payers and self-insured employer groups
