In fact, approximately one in four Americans who enrolled in non-group plans last year had to forgo some type of healthcare because they were unable to afford it, a recent report from consumer group Families USA found.
Of those who had to forgo care, most went without tests, treatment or follow-up care (15 percent), followed by prescription drugs (14 percent), medical care (12 percent), general physician appointment (12 percent) or specialist care (11 percent).
Data was collected from the Urban Institute’s Health Reform Monitoring Survey.
