New Jersey’s health insurance exchange, which is part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, would be funded through a surcharge on state health insurers, according to the report. It would also be governed by an eight-member panel, and members cannot be affiliated with the health insurance or healthcare industry.
Republican Gov. Chris Christie has said he wants to see how the Supreme Court rules on the PPACA before establishing an exchange. The Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments March 26 and is expected to make a final ruling this summer.
