Revenue for the second quarter of 2009 was $7.5 billion, up from $7 billion in the second quarter of 2008.

HCA attributes its growth to increasing patient volume and expense controls. Same facility admissions increased 1.9 percent for second-quarter 2009 as compared to the same period last year; same facility equivalent admissions increased by 4.4 percent.

Same facility uninsured admissions increased 10.4 percent for second-quarter 2009 as compared to the same period last year, causing some concern about the effect of a continued weak economy on the company, according to the report.
