According to the report, HCA East Florida said it is proposing rate increases that are “reasonable,” but Aetna officials said the rates would be significantly higher than other area hospitals. Additionally, HCA East Florida wants its hospitals to be designated as “low-cost” on Aetna’s website.
Aetna patients will either have to change physicians or stomach high out-of-network costs if the two parties do not reach a deal or extension by Sept. 30.
