Golf course owner, wife give 8-figure gift for rehab hospital

Mike and Lindy Keiser have donated in excess of $10 million to the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's capital campaign for AbilityLab, a $550 million research hospital slated to open in 2017, reports Crain's Chicago Business.

The 1.2 million-square-foot hospital will house physicians, clinicians, scientists, researchers and technology developers alongside hospital patients, with the hope of applying industry innovations to patient care in real time.

"RIC is a world-class institution," Mr. Keiser said in a press release announcing the donation. "It is the undisputed leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation and — best of all — it's in our backyard."

Lindy Keiser joined RIC's Women's Board in 1989 and Mike Keiser joined the hospital's governing board in 1996, serving as its chair from 2006 to 2008. Mr. Keiser owns Brandon (Ore.) Dunes Golf Resort.

This story was updated March 25 to reflect the amount of Mike and Lindy Keiser's donation.
