Georgia’s rural hospital tax credit was established in 2016. Under the program, taxpayers who made contributions to qualifying rural hospitals historically earned a credit valued at 70 percent of the donation, according to the report. Senate Bill 180 increases the credit value to 90 percent.

The measure aims to bring in more donations for financially struggling hospitals in rural Georgia, according to the report.
